Minterne to Ubuntu

We were excited to be the main contractor appointed to construct this super energy efficient and individually designed new build.

First, we had to demolish the existing 1960's property known as Minterne, that stood on the site and then complete the excavations, drainage, and substructure.

The main structure consisted of block and brick work, structural steel and timber frame.  The outside is a beautiful mixture of stained and natural larch cladding complimented with render.  The roof structure is also home to the PV panels.   The ground source heat pump installed feeds the underfloor heating and all this is controlled from its very own plant room.  The property was also installed with an MVHR system which is a continuous source of ventilation that extracts stale, moisture laden air from the building and resupplies fresh, filtered air back in, resulting in a comfortable and condensation free environment all year round.

Our client opted for Idealcombi triple glazed aluminium windows throughout which really compliments the external cladding.  The kitchen and lounge doors open out on to composite decking which also has sun shading.

We have really enjoyed constructing this truly bespoke property for our client and we handed over the keys at the end of September 2020 to the new name of Ubuntu.

Our client has her own blog for the journey from Minterne to Ubuntu.  Check out her blog on www.suewardell.com

We will have more pictures to follow of the finished build as the ones shown were taken during the build.
