Phil and Lee, the Directors of HM Construction, both began their careers as carpenters in rural Somerset, giving the team a longstanding connection with traditional buildings and barn conversions. Today, HM Construction has extensive experience as barn conversion specialists, carefully restoring and converting barns to create distinctive homes while working with the character and requirements of each building.

Our experience as barn conversion builders covers a wide range of structures, including Dutch barns, stone barns, modern steel barns and ancient timber-framed barns. Each conversion brings different challenges and opportunities, requiring a considered approach to the existing structure, construction method and finished design.

HM Construction won the South West regional LABC Building Excellence Award for Best Domestic Conversion Project in 2022 for Badenbarn, a Dutch barn conversion in South Somerset. The project was delivered on time and on budget to an exceptional standard, demonstrating the experience and attention to detail we bring to barn conversion projects across Somerset and the surrounding area.
