We were privileged to win the LABC building excellence award for best domestic conversion project 2022 with this Dutch barn conversion we completed for a lovely family near Wellington, Somerset.
Designed with a fabric-first approach by Orme Architecture we utilised a number of sustainable eco-conscious materials and methods including:
Bespoke stick-built timber frame
EPS floor insulation
Cellulose insulation in the walls and roof
Woodfibre sheathing
High-performance membranes throughout
Air source heat pump providing under-floor heating on both floors as well as domestic hot water
Mechanical ventilation & heat recovery unit providing pre-warmed fresh air throughout the home
High-performance composite windows
We successfully completed the project over 9 months with a turn-key approach meaning we completed everything from demolition to handing over the keys and enjoying a beer with the happy clients.
